Bottom of the 4th
Despite two Ks by one of our players, our sticks have SOMEWHAT come alive and we're winning 11-2.

Top of the Second
Chris just hit a towering "can of corn" to right field that made right field and right center look like preschoolers trying to do algebra... He made it to second!

WaterWorst : How the Storied Franchise Started 0-2
After experiencing a bitter loss to upa, WW set their sites on the jackers in an effort to right the ship and save the season. WW would suffer their first setback of the night before the first pitch. One of their top prospects was a no show. After a couple of texts back/forth we found out that the prospect had 'forgotten' about the game and was out of town. Despite having several players who are too old to remember what happened five minutes ago, everyone on the team has always managed to remember to make it to the park (albeit not always at the correct time). WW would have to play this game with 9, a fact that the jackers exploited at every opportunity. Routine singles were turned into triples due to the wider gaps. Despite a great effort on D throughout the game, you just can't be in two places at once. WW would end up allowing 20 runs and only reached the plate 9 times. There is no way to know for sure if having a 10th guys would have won the game for us. I do know that giving away an out at least every other inning on offense and giving up bases when you can't cover the outfield is a good battleplan for losing. To make matters worse, the jokers weren't really all that funny.
Boner of the week goes to the player who forgot to show up. Player of the week will go to Rik... I think I remember him making a nice catch in the outfield. WW 0-2 will take on the texans(0-1) next in the hopes of killing the losing streak.

WW Softball, winless in 2010
No matter which way you slice it losing sucks. Especially when you know you can beat a team, but there were some positive signs in WW's 18-17 loss to upa. First off these guys were a legit AA team. There was not a weak spot in their lineup and they flat out hit the ball. They had to of had us by a good 10yrs in average age and they still only beat us by a single run. To put up 17 runs in the first game of the season to a team playing down is not bad.
WW came out of the gate hot putting up 5 runs in the first but was not able to hold the lead in the field where the watched upa cross the plate 5 times. Both teams went a little soft in the second where the bad guys eventually took a 3 run lead. WW bounced back in the third and controlled the game 12-11. The lead was short lived and WW had to climb back to take the lead in the top half of the last inning. The lead was again cut and upa would eventually take the lead for good in the bottom half of the last inning with a walk off hit.
This seemed to be a typical WW game where everyone hit and played solid D. There were some hiccups here and there, but that is to be expected when spring training was canceled due to record snow. It's tough to pick out a player of the week when you run up 17 runs. I'd like to think the spark that fueled our rallies was Mike C. When he's not saving lives he's killing the right side of the field. Leading off our lineup having lived longer in one lifetime than upa's team combined Mike C is deserving of PotW. Now on to the boner of the week... our proud candidates consist of Byron, for forgetting socks and shoes (not sure if this really counts since this has become standard operating procedure), Jay for playing right field like he was blindfolded and JW for dropping that infield fly with a runner moving on the bases killing a chance at a double play and more importantly WW's chances at winning the league this year. Never before in the history of softball has so much hung in the balance of an infield pop-up. Some softball analysts are wondering if WW will ever be able to recover from this gaffe. JW... you have earned Boner of the Week!
Be sure to check this week as WW(0-1) will be in an all out war in a loser take all game for last place against the Jokers(0-1). We will try the live updating again... hopefully with more/better information/results.

Opening Day 2010
The loooong off-season will be put out of it's misery tonight as WW is set to take on a team new to Friday nights, UPA. WW hopes to pick up where they left off with another Friday night championship to make it four straight. An end-of-season tournament title is also in their cross-hairs. Hopefully we can track 3 full seasons of games without getting sick of posting. Look for Live-Updates from the players in game this season. Oh yeah... we got us some technology in the off-season.
